Santa Cop Program
The Santa Cop Program is a 29-year community effort by the Arlington Police Association Foundation and Arlington Police Department in conjunction with the Arlington Independent School District to provide a memorable Christmas for the children of Arlington. The program has evolved from police officers providing Christmas trees, food and gifts to families in their beat to providing toys and supplies for over 400 families and more than 1200 children in 2014.
The Santa Cop Program currently identifies needy families through the social workers and counselors at targeted AISD elementary schools. A party is provided for these families at the Arlington Convention Center where refreshments, good cheer, and even Santa is on hand to provide for a festive time. Groupings of schools are provided their very own party time so that each party is specialized for that group.
The Santa Cop Program has community support from Arlington Children’s Toys, Inc., Arlington Citizens Police Academy Alumni, Employees of Six Flags over Texas and Hurricane Harbor, Girl Scouts, and Arlington Music Hall.
